Wilderness Free Range

The ultimate free range hunting experience for hunters with high levels of fitness wanting to hunt tahr and chamois. Wilderness hunts provide great trophy opportunities in the most breathtaking mountain environments in the Southern Alps. If you are wanting to hunt red stags or fallow bucks, hunting on private land is the option to take, as it is very challenging to secure quality animals on public land. Helicopter access is required for this style of hunt, however if a client with extremely high fitness levels requests a backpack, hike in hike out trip, this can be catered for. Hunting will be undertaken from a tent camp with the option of spike camping if necessary.  Contact us for pricing and availability.

Private Land Free Range

We have access to some awesome private properties that provide great opportunities for tahr, chamois, red stags and fallow deer as well as other small game animals. This is recommended for most hunters. Access is obtained through 4x4 vehicle or helicopter. We mainly hunt from tent camps to ensure we are positioned in the best area for hunting the target species. Some basic huts are available in certain areas. Contact us for pricing and availability.

Location

We  are based from Te Anau with airport pickups available from Queenstown airport (2 hour drive). We have access to various large private properties with great hunting opportunities  all over the lower South  Island of New Zealand, as well as a Department of Conservation concession to guide in extensive mountain backcountry. 

Hunting and Terrain

All animals are hunted on foot using spot and stalk techniques. Most animals, especially tahr and chamois, live in very rugged steep alpine environments. Good footwear and gear is essential. High levels of fitness are recommended as this will help you enjoy the hunt, however all fitness levels will be catered for.
